They work fine a first and hold the knife tight. After about a six months to a year they stop holding the knife. Now my knife will just move around in the case because the little rubber stoppers are no longer working. This only happened to the biggest one for my 10″ Chefs knife, but I use that the most. The others still work fine. These are probably best for longer term storage or if the knife is used occasionally. When they hold they protect the knife very well. If you take it on and off repeatedly get something else. — Good for a little whileAlthough the two smaller sizes work fine (for my paring and boning knives), I’m having issues with the two larger ones.

The 8-inch KnifeSafe is a very tight squeeze for my 8-inch Victorinox chef’s knife. The knife is a bit tall (edge-to-spine) for a chef’s knife, but not unusually so.

The 10-inch KnifeSafe doesn’t have a very secure hold. I’ve tried it with the aforementioned chef’s knife and my 10-1/4″ bread knife, and both knives are able to wiggle around easily. In fact, I can pull the bread knife straight out of the device without unlocking the latches.

I’ve also purchased a 10″ KnifeSafe separately from a local Williams-Sonoma, and strangely enough, it doesn’t have the same looseness problem as the one in this set. The rubber tabs feel like they’re made out of a harder material. Perhaps they changed the construction at some point? — Good solution for drawers/transportation, but not perfect

The LamsonSharp KnifeSafe is wonderful!!! I was looking for a sheath for a new 7 in Santuko knife I purchased. The KnifeSafes came up when I searched for the sheath on Amazon. They are made of strong plastic and the clips that keep them closed are sturdy. I don’t imagine they’ll wear out simply because they won’t be over-used. I can now keep my sharp knives in my gadget drawer without worrying about losing a finger or getting a nasty cut!! This are a brilliant idea. For homes with children–A child (of any age) with good dexterity would be able to open the KnifeSafe. Price was great for a set of 4!!! And more counter space, if I switch over entirely and don’t use my butcher’s block. — Must Have!!!
