This product is TERRIBLE. I caution EVERYONE to stay as far away from this as they can. I bought it, used it to slice cheese and the motor literally stopped, even on the highest speed. It has a variable control speed dial and if you put it on the lowest setting it can go, it sounds like something is caught up in the blade and the engine is going to catch on fire–and that’s without trying to cut anything.

I’m not kidding, this is a terrible product. I hope someone else doesn’t make the mistake I did. Fortunately I was lucky in that the seller decided to give me my money back (I still had to pay for shipping to and from the seller which came to ). At the time, I couldn’t find any reviews for this product and I thought they couldn’t possibly screw something like that up…at least for what I wanted to use it for.

If you /do/ buy this thing, you’ll be sorry…mark my words.

With its sharp serrated blades and sturdy wooden handles, a well-designed steak knife set is the perfect choice for cutting a lean piece of meat with little effort. A high quality set of steak knives is a must-have for every single homeowner and even well-established restaurants that want to set themselves apart from other businesses. A high quality set of steak knives can be served as a simple but very useful gift for your friends, clients, family, or even as a wedding gift.

There are two basic types of steak knives that you can get as a set. One is a serrated knife, and the other is a straight blade. The serrated knife for cutting steaks is the most common. The serrated blade allows this type of steak knife to cut through me easily with little effort. Also, the serrated steak knives will very rarely need to be sharpened. The only downside is that when you need to sharpen these knives it can be very difficult. You may have to send them to professional and pay a few extra dollars to have it done correctly.

The straight edge steak knife is not as common as it serrated cousin, but it has a few advantages. One of the main advantages is that it can easily be sharpened. This can save you a lot of money and frustration. The straight edge steak knife is very sharp so you need to be careful when you’re using them because it is very easy to cut yourself. A straight edge steak knife is recommended for people who are a little more experienced with using knives.

When you are ready to buy a set of steak knives, take your time and researched the top brands. One of the best rants I have found is called Victorinox. The Victorinox steak knife set is a high quality set of steak knives that was specifically created to be reasonably priced and to last a very long time.

Choosing a kitchen knife set is one of the toughest things for any avid home cook to do. You don’t want to go too cheap on the set you’re buying because you know that the quality just won’t be there. You’d really like one of the top-notch sets from a company like Global, but it just isn’t in the budget. Getting a good set is important because you’ll be using it pretty much every day. Luckily for you, there are some great mid-range kitchen knife sets on the market. The following tips will help you to save money and still get the quality you’re looking for.

Pickings are slim for those looking to spend less than a hundred dollars on a knife set. There are really only a couple brands I’d recommend that sell sets for less than a hundred dollars. The first is Farberware. While you aren’t going to find a set of Farberware knives in the kitchen of most chef’s world-wide, you’re getting a good blade for the money. The value stops at the blade. Farberware sets look nice, but it’s obvious where they cut corners to keep the cost down. The handles are cheap, and are easily dinged up and chipped. As long as you aren’t rough with your knife set, you can get a decent blade for a good price from Farberware.

The second sub-100 dollar kitchen knife set I’d recommend is any one of the many cheaper Ginsu sets. it might be surprising to some to hear that Ginsu knives are made in America. They are made from Japanese steel in a manner similar to the way samurai swords used to be made. Ginsu knives were made famous in the early 80’s via a set of infomercials showing them cutting through all kinds of things normal knives couldn’t handle. The cheaper Ginsu knives are made of a lower grade of Japanese steel than the high-end sets, but you still get a super-sharp set of knives at a low price. Just make sure you clean and dry them after every use and they’ll last you a long time.

If you can afford to spend a little bit more money, you’ll be rewarded with a much better set of knives. The sets on offer for between one and two hundred dollars are made of better steel, and will last longer than the cheaper sets. JA Henckels, Calphalon and Chicago Cutlery all make good sets in this price range, as does Anolon. When you look at people’s wish lists on Amazon, you’ll see sets from all 3 of these fine makers of cutlery showing up time and time again. If I had to pick one, I’d probably go with Analon, but that just comes down to personal preference.

As you can see, there are good options for those looking to get the best knife set

Wouldn’t you like to own this Kitchen Knife Set?

FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS

What is the item condition
· This item is brand new and factory sealed

Will there be a tracking number included
·
Yes a tracking number from UPS or USPS or FEDEX is included with all items
shipped. If by chance I didn’t include it feel free to ask me for
it.

How fast should I expect delivery of my items?

I try my very best to
get items shipped out as fast as possible. Items generally arrive between 5 to 9
business days following purchase depending on the speed of the shipper. Unless
otherwise noted in the listing. Some of my items take 10 to 14 days.
Others take 11to 15 business days. Every listing will let you know.
If the listing does not include the shipping time, shoot me an email and I will
let you know shortly thereafter.

IF YOU BUY ON A SUNDAY IT’S GOING TO TAKE AN EXTRA DAY BECAUSE
ON SUNDAY’S I LIKE TO SPEND IT WITH MY FAMILY.

CAN I SHIP AN ITEM TO AN UNVERIFIED
ADDRESS OR ADDRESS OTHER THAN THAT IN THE PAYPAL SHIP TO ADDRESS?

Yes I can ship to an unverified address but please note that this address MUST
BE THE PAYPAL SHIP TO ADDRESS

Please
note that all shipping addresses must be in the paypal ship to address

I cannot change the shipping address once it is provided through paypal. I cannot change a shipping address even if it
is emailed to me through eBay because often items are already shipped out
before I receive the emails. Also paypal
does not provide buyer or seller protection if an item is shipped to an address
other than the one in the paypal ship to address.

In
the event you send me an email requesting to ship to an address other than the PAYPAL SHIP TO ADDRESS we will
have to refund your money and we can agree to cancel the transaction. After that takes place you
can repurchase the item with the correct SHIP TO ADDRESS IN PAYPAL.

This
is done to prevent fraud and to protect the buyer and seller from losses.
Unfortunately there are bad apples that ruin it for everyone.

Can you please combine shipping on these
items for me?

I’m sorry but I do not combine shipping on items at this time.

How fast do you respond to my emails?

I generally try to respond to emails one to two times a day. I have a
family, things come up. Please allow 24-36 hours for an email
response.
· If you do not receive an email response within that time
period please re-email me as sometimes emails get sent to junk-mail for some
reason and although I try to check that folder sometimes they can get missed
there.

What about feedback? It’s important to all of us!!!!!

· Please
always email me to work things out prior to leaving feedback. I pride myself
on my customer service and personal service and promise to work any problems
out! Please always contact me. I try my hardest to make all of my
customers happy and consider myself a very nice person. I will be professional
yet personal in our communication.

Where do you ship to? Where don’t you ship to?

· I only ship within the continental 48 United States

· I do not ship to Hawaii or Alaska

· I do not ship to Military addresses

· I do not ship to Puerto Rico or Guam

· I do not ship to Canada or Mexico

· I do not ship International

· I do not ship to PO Boxes, please provide a street address
to ship to, it can be a friend or family member or a work address because as
long as the address is included as the paypal ship to address I can ship to
an unverified address

How do you handle returns?

· I will accept returns but for items that are DEFECTIVE only.

· Returns are for EXCHANGE FOR NON DEFECTIVE ITEM ONLY

· I need to be notified of a defective item within 7 days and returns need to be
received back within 14 days of receipt

·
A pre-paid label will be issued for returns so please do not send until you
receive this label.

· Items must be returned within 10 days post issuing of the
label or they will be assessed a 10% restocking fee

· If the item is no longer in stock then a full refund
will be issued rather than exchange

As a last note
·· Please note that I am human and at times will make a
mistake just like everyone else, but one thing I will make sure that is that
you are never without the item you purchased or your money. I try my hardest to
have the best price but at times other sellers will sell for a few cents or a
few bucks cheaper-but please note that if issues arise many sellers will tell
you tough luck, that is your problem. I am not one of those sellers, I will
work with you!

99% of the time there are no issues but that
1% of the time it is important to have a seller who cares about their buyers,
not a seller who says tough luck. I promise you that you cannot go wrong
purchasing from me!

Thank
you for listening.

DON’T FORGET TO UPDATE YOUR ADDRESS IF
YOU HAVE MOVED OR ARE SHIPPING TO AN ALTERNATE ADDRESS. ONCE THE ITEM SHIPS THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN
DO!!!!

I’ll be the first to say it: you really don’t need all the knives in a set. Good cutlery is a lot like good cookware – buy only what you need, when you need it, but avoid the sets as they include things that you’ll never use.

I recommend getting yourself a good quality chef’s knife, probably 8 inches long. (I think the 6″ are too short; the 10″ too long.) Go to a dedicated cutlery or cooking store and try it out – you want to get something that fits your hand and feels good. The fit and feel is more important than the brand, really, and don’t be afraid to mix and match. The more expensive brands will cost you $80 – $100 for a good chef’s knife, tho’ I’ve heard of cheaper ones that have gotten a number of recommendations from serious cooks, like Cooks Illustrated and such – maybe someone will pop in with a link. Myself, I prefer Wustof. I have some of their classic line. I use my chef’s knife for easily 90% of all my prep in the kitchen – it’s really worth the money to get a quality one.

A knife that’s often recommended as the next purchase is a paring knife, but I kind of disagree. I have one, but I rarely use it. (Probably because I don’t peel much of anything – the potatoes are unpeeled, the cukes unpeeled, and so on. Can’t remember the last time I peeled anything. And then when I do, I usually use a veggie peeler – never got the hang of peeling with a knife, really.)

After that, it varies. I’d get a nice breadknife and maybe a cleaver (ooh – or maybe a tomato knife. That’s probably the knife that does the other 10% of the cutting in my kitchen), but others might recommend a boning knife or steak knives or what have you. That said, if you can find a set or block that includes only 3 knives (like the chef’s, paring, and bread or some such), it might be worth it. Just don’t get a set that includes 10+ knives, as there’ll be a bunch in there that you probably won’t use. Start small.

One thing that is worth the purchase: kitchen shears. I bought the Wustof shears and use them constantly. And they weren’t expensive; maybe $10? I know they’re not of the same quality as my knives, but they’re shears – they’re meant to get beat up and be replaceable.

I’ve heard that knives should be resharpened every year. You can buy sharpeners for your knives that take any guesswork out of it and help maintain the edge, but it’s probably worth getting them professionally sharpened every 2-3 years or so. (That said, I haven’t gotten mine resharpened, and it’s going on probably 5 years now. I need to do that, obviously.) Using the steel will help maintain the edge as well, but I have to admit that I’m not so great at that either.

Other than a tomato or bread knife, stay away from serrated edges. Serrated knives are difficult, if not impossible, for home chefs to resharpen – you end up just grinding down the serrations. They’re great for tomatos and bread, but regular old knives will work for everything else. And your tomato and bread knife are probably best served by being professionally resharpened.

The above comments confirm that not many wealthy (and therefore, most likely, older individuals) don’t visit sites such as Woot (yes, obvious statement is obvious). Myself, I’m just a college student, but my parents are well off. When you’re in the highest tier of the tax bracket, you can buy stuff like 145 dollar towels, 15k telescopes, and 2.6 million dollar homes. So a set of Shun Ken knives for $1900 from Williams-Sonoma makes perfect sense. Now, for the rest of us, the money can be used much more effectively elsewhere, like rent, or groceries, but for those who have huge disposable incomes, the question boils down to: Why Not?

Great Knives. I got the knives to go with the new flatware. Not a good choice with my set. I bought the complete set of J. Good Value Set. I only got this set because it was a special value. Thin Handle. I love the look of these knives, the way they cut through my steak and the fact that I paid under $20 for the set of 8 . Great sharp knives, good weight/balance, and excellent feel in your hand! I got this steak knife set to go with a 45 piece flatware set from JA Henckels and was not disappointed. Excellent product and excellent price. These steak knives are a very good buy. Henkels steak knives. These knives are a great value, i have had an original set for over 10 years and they remain sharp. Must Have! Absolutely beautiful steak knife set! Does the job. the knives do the job of cutting and slicing very well. Good set of steak knives. My dad gave me a set of stainless steel knives made in Brazil similar to Henckels knife set which I purchased for a Christmas gift. Junk! Buyer beware.. These are all show and no go! Very Pleased. I initially recieved 4 as a wedding gift. Best EVER. These are absolutely by far the best knives I have ever used. Awesome Shower Gift! Purchased 2 sets (8-Piece Steak Knives) for a wedding shower for an awesome price. NOT SHARP OR COMFORTABLE but Good Looking. These knives look great, but are too small in the hand and have a poor serration design. Great knives at a great price and easy to care for. I’m surprised at all the reviews discussing “stains” on these knives. Wonderful product! This is just what I have been looking for. GREAT QUALITY. These steak knives are very nice.

Great knives, handles are a little small for men but overall a great knife.

I purchased these knives to replace another brand that I was unhappy with. Great knives. Love These Knives! These knives are beautiful, high-quality steak knives. Great Product! I received a set of these knives aboout 5 years ago as a wedding present and bought another set to complete 12. Better than our other brand knives. I bought these knives at Target several years back. All you have to do is mount the can to the electric can opener and turn it on and it does the rest for you. You’re free to take on other tasks while the lid is being removed from the can.

Not only can this great appliance help you save time opening cans, it can also be used as a fully functional knife sharpener which can help save you time as well. Many electric can opener models are now coming equipped with this additional functionality.
