Great Knife – Great value
This is a awsome knife. Super sharp. Great weight and easy to use on Veggis, Seafood, Sushi, Beef etc. Cut Salami or Carrots paper thin. The slices will fall right of the side, no more sticking to the blade! Great for chopping as well. I have almost all the 4 Star Henckels and I love them all and this one stands out. I can highly recommend this great tool. The same Santoku knife also comes in 7 inch lenght (for only ten dollars more) in case you are interested.

Love my Henckels
I have a set of Henckels chef’s knives that I just adore. I recently added this 5-inch hollow edge santoku to my set. It has everything I have come to expect from Henckels: world-class quality, balance, comfort and control.

I am an advocate of EXCELLENT kitchen knives because they are so much more safe to use than crappy knives. When you use one of these, you are in control, even when cutting something hard and round like a winter squash or a huge, firm onion.

After Hurricane Katrina, when my stuff was in storage on the other side of the country, I went out and bought some inexpensive (OK, CHEAP) kitchen tools to get me by until I could get my things out of storage. I had TWO different knives break apart in my hands while I was using them! You know the kind: cheap plastic handle, poorly joined to the blade, not terribly sharp. Yikes.

What a relief it is to have a good knife in my hand again. I can focus on cooking, rather than on avoiding maiming myself with a cheap blade.

Every household needs at least three good kitchen knives–a paring knife (for trimming mushrooms and slicing small veggies, like carrots), a smaller chef’s knife (for chopping onions and small cabbages) and a large chef’s knife (for slicing bigger, harder things like watermelons and butternut squash.)

This 5″ santoku nicely bridges the gap between the small and large chef’s knives–perfect for people on a more limited budget. I used mine tonight to thinly slice a large onion. It slid through the onion like a warm knife through soft butter and the slices fell away from the knife cleanly as advertised. Using a good tool made well is one of life’s enduring little pleasures.

A Very Handy and Professional Tool!
This knife helps to round out my collection of Twin Four Star knives. This model is a little less cumbersome than the 7″ version but I wouldn’t trade either of them for anything!

Have You Seen the Ken Onion Shun Knives? | harrydaily.com

I do not know how many people out there have already seen the ken onion shun kitchen knives (or chef’s knives, if you want to be specific), but if you have not done so already, I strongly advise you to check them out – they are amazing!

They are relatively new on the kitchen knife seen and they are quite simply the most beautiful kitchen knives I have ever seen. The 8 inch chef’s knife stands out especially, just because it stands alone in its own knife rack and is quite possibly the sharpest thing in the world! You know that thing you do when you see how sharp a knife is by running your thumb sideways over it? Well, you would NOT want to be doing that with this knife – it is way too sharp! Anyway, if you are thinking of getting a new kitchen knife this Christmas – and have a spare two hundred dollars or so – I would strongly, strongly advise you to look into these ken onion shuns.

What is the best brand Of Knives?

I’m looking for a new set of knives in my kitchen that will last. I am willing to pay more for quality. The links to reviews? Experience? Your favorite?

Wow that was a loaded question that is sure to bring out the best in people. My best advice is to find a store that carries Quality Knives and address of the stars. Find the mark or marks that match the best hand. In my bag I have Wusthof-Trident, Lamson Sharp, Kyocera and Messermeister. I have a knife, Ken Onion Shun think it is worthless. Oh, those who ask? Henkel knives there, either in one of my computers at work or at home.

Cold Steel Kitchen Knife, K5, Plain

$20

Typically a set of kitchen knives in a wooden box is given as a gift. It s a great idea and our 12 knife Kitchen Classics set has been a resounding success. The only drawback to the big box set is portability, especially if there are only a couple of knives in the set that are used on a daily basis. Our K-5 and K-7 Kitchen Knives eloquently solve this dilemma. The Hocho style blades are approximately 1 1/2 wide and 1. 5mm thick. They are skillfully flat ground from top to bottom and then honed to a very thin, astonishingly sharp edge, combine that with the continuous curve on the blade and wide thin cross section and you ve got a blade that s unparalleled for cutting and shearing power. Now you can slice tomatoes wafer thin and cut through vegetables and meat with virtually no resistance. The knives are available with either a serrated edge or our new plain edge style. If you already own a Cold Steel Knife you know that we pride ourselves on having the sharpest knives in the business, and our exclusive serration pattern outperforms the competition by a wide margin, providing smooth long lasting cutting power. For maximum control we ve made the handles out of heavily contoured and deeply checkered the Kraton. And for ease of transportation and safety while not in service each K-5 and K-7 is supplied with a protective polypropylene sleeve. Specifications: – Weight: 2. 6 oz. – Thick: 1/16 inch (1. 5mm) – Blade: 5 inch – Handle: 4 1/4 inch long. Kraton – Steel: VG-1 Stainless – Overall: 9 1/4 inch – Sheath: Black Polypropylene Sleeve

Review of Kershaw Boa 1580 Folding Knife

The Kershaw Ken Onion Boa 1580 is one of the best knives designed by Ken Onion for Kershaw. It has and elegant design, a remarkable assisted opening device, excellent materials, it is made in the USA, and Kershaw back it up with a limited lifetime warranty. Without doubt, the Boa is an excellent knife for utility purposes.

The knife features a recurve blade made of S30V stainless-steel, a high quality steel that can hold its edge for a relatively long time and has a good resistance to corrosion. The main problem with this type of steel and blade geometry is that it is a little harder for sharpening, so a high quality knife sharpener is in order to maintain its edge.

The handle is lightweight, made of anodized aluminum, and the design provides a very comfortable grip in your hands.

The highlight of Kershaw Ken Onion Boa is the SpeedSafe assisted opening device. It features a torsion bar that helps to open the blade after a manual push on a thumb stud or a pullback on the blade protrusion. The blade opens fast and smoothly and locks with a satisfying click into position. They call it SpeedSafe because the mechanism prevent that the blade will open by accident when closed. Changing the thumb stud allows to use the Boa by both left- and right-handers.

Besides the Boa comes with a locking liner to lock the blade into position after the knife is deployed to further safety. And a practical pocket clip to wear it on your pants.

All in all, the Boa 1580 is an excellent pocket knife by Kershaw and Ken Onion, a good deal for the price.

Three Reasons to Get a Ceramic Kitchen Knife

Have you seen those white bladed ceramic kitchen knives on TV or in the stores? Have you wondered if they are any good?, Do you want to know how they compare to normal kitchen knives? Well this article will answer all your questions. And send you in the direction of the best priced ceramic knife on the market. So keep reading.

Top three reasons to get a ceramic kitchen knife today

#1) Sharp for Life: Ceramic knives are made of the hardest material of any knife. They are made of zirconium oxide which is the second hardest material in the earth. Second only to diamonds. It is likely you will never have to sharpen your ceramic knife for as long as you own it. And you can forget about wasting time trying to get the perfect edge so you can slice tomatoes without stress. There’s nothing so annoying for cooks has a metal blade, sliding along the skin of a ripe tomato, is there?

As you know, metal kitchen knives such as carbon blades or stainless steel require ongoing maintenance and sharpening. Especially carbon steel blades, which need to be oil and sharpened constantly. I had to sharpen my Japanese carbon steel blade weekly, just to cut into the skin of an onion smoothly. My Japanese friend sharpens every day! Well, your days of sharpening are about to come to a beautiful end.

2) As Light As A Feather: The next major benefit of using ceramic blades is their super lightweight. Zirconia is hard and light. So every cut and slice requires very little effort. So every activity such as chopping, slicing, peeling and dicing can be done swiftly. Your arm, wrist, shoulder and neck feeling much more relaxed. Imagine cooking without fatigue.

3) Price: You may be surprised that you could find such a high quality kitchen knife for a low price. Keep reading to find out how. But in the stores, the prices of ceramic knives are shockingly expensive. Especially if you want a brand name blade. Some sets are up to $1000.

But the funny thing is, the lowest price and the highest price ceramic knives are made of exactly the same material! They are both zirconium oxide. So the only difference is the handle and the brand name stamped on the side. So if you want to feel special because of the company name, please spend hundreds of dollars on your next knife.

If not, you can find out how to get a high quality and low price ceramic all-purpose kitchen blade at ceramic kitchen knives
