Change the Spark Plugs in a 2.4-Liter Engine
A simple task if you know something about an engine is the changing of the spark plugs in a 2.4-liter. This will save you some money if you do the task yourself because it is not difficult. You should do this when you change the oil and do regular maintenance on your vehicle.
You can easily find a guide or some kind of instructions by doing a simple search on the internet. This will help you should you run into something you are unsure of while changing the plugs.
First, you will need to remove the ignition assembly on the top part of the engine to get to the spark plug wires. Once you have done this you will be able to see the wires that lead to the plugs themselves just follow the wires.
Work the wire ends of the top of the spark plugs and with a deep-set socket and ratchet remove the plugs. You will need to check or set the gap in the new spark plugs before you put them into the motor. The gap is the area between the tip and the actual center of the plug. This is what creates the correct spark for the engine to start. If the gap is not correct, you could have problems with the way your vehicle runs.
Therefore, be sure to check the gap or set it then replace the new plug into the motor and put the wires back in the correct place. Do not cross the wires this will cause your vehicle to miss or damage part of the engine. There are, only four spark plugs, you will have to remove and replace then you will be, done.
Once you finish the last one, all the wires are back in the proper place put the ignition assembly back into place. You should then try to start the engine and make sure the vehicle is going to run and running properly. If the motor runs without any miss then you have successfully completed the task.
The spark plugs should be, replaced when your car starts to run roughly or you notice a miss in the way the car idles. Also if the car should develops some kind of a backfire this is a good sign that you are not getting enough spark to the engine. You can save a great deal of money if you do the simple things your car need regularly.
